We donate 1% back to nature

We donate 1% back to nature

Why?

(Plug you ears, we are about to cause some ruckus.)

Fact: the fashion industry has a negative impact on nature and the environment. And we're not just talking about polluting factors, such as water pollution and CO2 emissions, but also about the depletion of natural resources through the use of raw materials that are not - or not fully - replenished. In addition, there is a lot of overproduction that is piling up, and discarded clothing that is not or only partially recycled. In other words: we are massively overexploiting. That has to change. Fortunately, almost everyone is now aware of this. Including us. Taking action is the logical step.

How?

We take our responsibility seriously and this does not stop at words, we take action.

We donate 1% of our turnover back to nature

We give 1% of our turnover back to nature, in the form of donations to charities and organizations that protect and restore the health of nature. We started this in 2022 and part of that 1% comes from actions such as Black Friday (or maybe better: Green Friday?).

And of course the clothes that are ‘left over’. At PLEIN PUBLIQUE we also have unsold clothes, namely after a year of being on sale. Despite our careful & minimal purchasing policy. S*** happens. It’s part of the fashion industry and there’s not much you can do about it. But there is something you can do with it instead!

Whatever is left over, will initially go to the sale. Whatever is returned or still on the shelves after this, will go to our friends at Appel & Ei, about whom we have written before.

What?

Where does that 1% go? That could be anything, but for now we will stick to local organizations and initiatives in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Of course we can also donate to large organizations such as The Ocean Cleanup or the World Wildlife Fund, but they often already have many donors and financiers, while local initiatives are less likely to have a large reach but do do good things for nature as well.

We ask you for ideas in one of our newsletters every year and something fun always comes out of it! So what have we been up to lately? Read it in the following blogs:

And ofcourse de Rhedense Sheep flock (2x al), see our blog and ofcourse Kelly's amazing video.
